The Advantage
After School Program
The Advantage After School Program is an after school program that is a safe,
fun, and educational alternative in the schools.  The program is offered at four sites
in Jamestown: Jefferson and Washington Middle Schools, and Fletcher and
Bush Elementary Schools.

The Advantage Program is run by the YWCA of Jamestown, in partnership with
Jamestown Public Schools, Chautauqua Striders, New York State Office of Children
and Family Services, The YMCA of Jamestown, The Arts Council for Chautauqua
County, and many other area organizations.

There is a small fee for participation in our after school programs.  Snack is
provided daily, as well as ample time to study, get help with homework, and
participate in hands-on learning and recreational activities.

The Advantage Program goals are to provide quality programs for youth and
enable them to become strong and independent individuals as they head toward
the future.  We meet these goals by offering a variety of activities and special
events that allow participants to learn something new and develop their potential.  

All of our activities are age-appropriate and instructed by qualified and professional
staff.  Some examples of activities include karate, videography, web design,
cooking,  bowling, swimming, newspaper club, keyboarding, and arts and crafts.  
Chautauqua Striders provides tutoring services daily for most students. Field trips
are taken to places like the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, Corning Museum  of
Glass, The Erie Zoo, Peek n’ Peak, and Albany, our state capital.

The Advantage Program is provided daily during the after school hours of 3-6pm at
Fletcher and Bush Elementary School, as well as Washington and Jefferson Middle
School on all FULL school days - 3,4,5 day enrollment available.
