YWCA Jamestown summer camp program, began June 28, 2010 and will run until August 27, 2010. Located on
Terrace Avenue in Lakewood, YW CAmp Lakeside runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday and is open
to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12. Transportation from the YWCA Jamestown to camp and back is
provided daily. Participants who require before- and after- camp care can also register for wrap-around care at
the YWCA from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm (limited availability). For more information on registration and rates for YW
CAmp Lakeside, call Robin at 488-2237 x 251.

LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS, OH MY! (06/28 - 07/01):
Take a Walk on the wild side at JNK's Call of the Wild wildlife sanctuary. Children will get up
close and personal with wild animals of all kinds, including-lions, tigers, jaguars, bears, wolves and
more!
Campers will also enjoy a visit from the local Humane Society who will make a stop in at camp to
teach the campers about being responsible pet owners of their own "wild" animals!
CANNONBALL!!! (07/05 - 07/09):
Enjoy fun in the sun playing at the Warren Pool, complete with water slide, fountains, kiddie pools
and more!
At camp, children will be enjoying all sorts of water activities, such as paddle boating, swimming,
sprinklers, water balloons and fun on the YW CAmp Lakeside's private sandy beach!
STRIKE IT RICH! (07/12 - 07/16):
Campers will be taking a trip to the town of Dry Gulch. Sheriff Bill will help them discover hidden
gems within the town and will guide them to the biggest and best gem sites! Each camper will get
the chance to "strike it rich" by taking gems home with them at the end of the trip.
At camp, children will be doing hunts of all kinds, including a scavenger hunt for a Holy Snail!
RUN, RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! (07/19 - 07/23):
Campers will visit the Tom Erlandson Overlook in Frewsburg, NY. They will have fun hiking the
trails as well as playing games of all kinds in the large, grassy meadow.
Frisbees will fly and balls will bounce all week, inside camp and out! Campers will enjoy their
favorite games as well as some friendly competition.
UNDER THE SEA (07/26 - 07/30):
Campers will get a chance to see some of the coolest underwater life while standing on solid
ground at the Niagara Aquarium. The visit will include a sea lion show, getting "hands on" at the
touch tank, as well as viewing penguins, sharks, sea horses and more!
* At camp, children will be making their own fish aquarium....they can eat!
WARM SAND, COOL BREEZE (08/02 - 08/06):
Campers will enjoy not one, but two sunny beach locations this week as they visit the Lakewood
Beach right next door to YW CAmp Lakeside - then it is out to the peninsula of Presque Isle!
Children can choose to build a sand castle, bask in the sun, or ride the waves!
Campers will also be taking advantage of their own beach on the hot summer days. Sunblock is a
must!
CHILLIN' OUT (08/09 - 08/13):
This week children will be enjoying some fun on the ice at Jamestown Ice Arena. Campers will
take a break from the sun and chill out with an afternoon of skating.
At camp, children will be doing all sorts of icy activities, including making their own ice cream! YUM!
SIT BACK, RELAX, AND ENJOY THE RIDE (08/16 - 08/20):
As summer is nearing a close, this week's field trip is definitely a camper favorite...this week
campers will visit Chuck-E-Cheese, where they will get the chance to eat pizza, play games, and
even win prizes!
MEMORIES (08/23 - 08/27):
The last week of camp always consists of looking back at all the fun campers have had over the
summer. Families are invited to a YW CAmp Lakeside Family Cookout, complete with hot dogs,
hamburgers, chips and desserts! Families will have the opportunity to see what their camper(s)
have been up to all summer, as well as be presented with a very special keepsake!
